hey peeps! an iBook by Denise Clifton came out earlier this week which features Sam Wo. She'd started on the book months before the closure. please check it out

Tables From The Rubble, an interactive book, transports readers to San Francisco in the years just after the Great Earthquake of 1906. Amid the ruins of a crumbled city, restaurants rose to feed the hungry and lead the recovery. Today, a handful of the restaurants that opened in those boom years remain, serving customers in the same spaces they first opened – offering food, drinks, and stories with a direct link to a 100-year-old past.

Featured restaurants include Swan Oyster Depot, Liguria Bakery, Sam Wo, the Palace Hotel, and the House of Shields bar. Tables From The Rubble includes new videos and photos from each restaurant, dozens of historic photos, a gallery of old Palace Hotel menus going back 100 years, an interactive map, recipes – including the recipes for Swan Oyster Depot's clam chowder and the Palace Hotel's Green Goddess salad dressing – and links to original sources. Readers can explore old San Francisco in an entirely new way.

It's available for download on your iPad with iBooks 2 or on your computer with iTunes:

The fundraiser at Cameron House held on Sept 29 had a great turnout. We raised a total of $5k!

Thank you to those of you who came out that day to support Sam Wo in raising funds. A special, special Thank You to the volunteers that came out to donate their time plus the money love; Ray Fong of WGUISFC for gathering the volunteers. Thank you Leland Wong for the amazing drawings & setting up your guys' award winning dumplings. This would not have been possible had it not been the generous donation from Cameron House of their vicinity and staff (Jon & Pauline). Of course, much thanks and love to CCDC (Rev.Norman Fong) for co-sponsoring the event and hooking us up with so many wonderful people in helping us with this fundraiser.

Hiiiii Everyone!! It's been a long while and thank you all for being so patient. Now..time for an UPDATE!!~

first-
The $250k Chase Grant. Unfortunately, Sam Wo did not get the grant. My family and I would once again like to THANK YOU ALL for your support and effort in getting the word out. Again, we really felt the love.

second-
However, we have been very fortunate to have been receiving a tremendous amount of help from Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC), Asian Neighborhood Design (AND), and AmOne which could not have happened without the help from David Chiu's office. To say the least, a lot of meetings and brain power was used the past few months to obtain approvals for the new plans for Sam Wo in order for the building and kitchen space to be up to code.

And. To make a long story short, we will not be using any public funded money to renew Sam Wo. So, last but not least...

third-
There will be fundraising events!! The first fundraising event will be held on Saturday, Sept 29th, 2012 at the Donaldina Cameron House in SF Chinatown. It will be a luncheon from 12-2pm. Details of the event is TBA.

Please check our Facebook page for more fundraising details as they become available:
